About Us
Where every smile in our community feels confident and cared for.
At Southside Dental, we care for more than just smiles we care for the people behind them. Rooted in family and dedicated to our community, we treat every smile as if it were our own

Our Story
This practice didn’t start with a grand vision. It started with responsibility.
When Dr. Estes passed his practice on to Juan Uribe, it came with more than just patients; it came with trust. Juan learned from him not just how to run a practice, but how to show up for a community.
When Juan stepped into ownership, he wasn’t thinking about legacy. He was thinking about providing for his family and honoring the foundation that had already been built. The goal was simple: work hard, serve people well, and keep moving forward.
Over time, something shifted. What started as a way to create stability slowly became something the whole family was invested in. There were long days, sacrifices, and a lot of faith. And now, years later, the most meaningful part isn’t just that the practice has grown it’s that his whole family is now part of it too.
This business represents mentorship, hard work, and family. It’s built on what the next generation is now helping shape. We’re proud of where it began. And we’re even more proud of where it’s going.

The Meaning Behind Our Logo
Our logo was designed to reflect the values that define our practice: family, dentistry, and community.
Triangles

At the center of our logo are four triangles, with four different meanings. First, inspired by the Greek letter Delta, a symbol historically associated with dentistry. We chose this shape to honor the profession that has connected our family across generations and remains a central part of our identity. If we were to assign a triangle to everyone in our family who is a dentist, there would be thirteen: spanning grandparents, parents, siblings, cousins, aunts, and uncles. Instead, we chose to simplify this into four triangles, each carrying deeper meaning. Three of the triangles represent the three generations of our dental family: grandmother, parents, and daughter, reflecting the continuity of dentistry across time. The fourth triangle represents our extended family, including cousins, siblings, aunts, and uncles, whose support and presence are an essential part of our story.
The four triangles also represent the four pillars of our immediate family: Dr. Juan Uribe, Dr. Gigi Uribe, Dr. Catalina Uribe Schmit, and Valeria Uribe. Together, we have all contributed to building this practice, making sacrifices and working with dedication to bringing a shared family dream to life.
They also represent the four individuals directly involved in the day-to-day work of the practice: Dr. Juan Uribe, Dr. Gigi Uribe, Dr. Catalina Uribe Schmit, and Dustin Schmit. They each play a vital role in supporting and sustaining the vision of the practice as it continues to grow.

Colors

The colors in our logo also carry deep meaning and reflect the history and evolution of our practice. Teal represents the very beginning of our journey, when Dr. Juan and Gigi Uribe first established their dental practice in Colombia, laying the foundation for the family tradition that would follow.
Blue represents the creation of Uribe Family Dentistry in the United States. In healthcare, blue is widely recognized as a symbol of trust, calm, and medical authority. It is one of the most commonly used colors in the medical field, shaping patient experience and reflecting professionalism, care, and reliability.
Finally, Lilac represents our daughter Catalina and the next generation of dentistry within our family. In dentistry, lilac has long been associated with the profession, traditionally symbolizing compassion, purpose, and inspiration. It reflects both the achievement of becoming a dentist and the continued growth of the field, representing Catalina’s role in carrying our family tradition into the future.
