Cosmetic Dentistry

Cosmetic dentistry is the process of improving the appearance of a person's teeth, gums and smile. Good cosmetic dentistry requires special skills and extensive training beyond dental school, most Cosmetic dentist are held in high regard because of their extensive education, training, and experience in improving the esthetics of a person's oral appearance. Cosmetic dentistry has the added dimension of art as well as combining the oral health benefits of general and restorative dentistry to give patients the smile they have dreamed of. We at Southside Family Dentistry are proud to posses the fine art of cosmetic dentistry.

Root Canals

The space inside the tooth from the center, known as the pulp chamber, that travels down the length of the root to the tip (or apex) is called a "canal," or more specifically, a root canal.

The tiny canals contain the pulp of the tooth also commonly referred to as the nerve, which originates from the pulp chamber. Any trauma or infection of the nerve will result in the need for root canal therapy.

Extractions

Tooth extraction is the removal of a tooth from its socket in the bone. Teeth may  be extracted to make more room in the mouth prior to straightening the remaining teeth (orthodontic treatment), or because they are so badly positioned that straightening is impossible. Extraction may be used to remove teeth that are so badly decayed or broken that they cannot be restored. In addition, some patients choose extraction as a less expensive alternative to filling or placing a crown on a severely decayed tooth. We are happy to offer extractions for all ages for most teeth in our office.

Crowns & Bridges

A dental crown is a restorative dentistry treatment that is placed over a tooth to improve strength, shape or appearance. Dental crowns, also called "caps,". A bridge is a fixed dental restoration used to replace a missing tooth by joining an artificial tooth permanently to adjacent teeth or dental implants. A bridge is made up of two crowns for the teeth on either side of the gap and a false tooth/teeth in between. Dental bridges are supported by natural teeth or implants and can be made from gold, alloys, porcelain or a combination of these materials.

Implant Restorations

A dental implant is used to replace missing teeth or to help support your denture for a look and feel that is natural. They are surgically placed below the gums. The procedure involves attaching the implants to the jawbone and gum tissue to become a stable base for one or more custom artificial replacement teeth or dentures. Candidates for dental implants need to have healthy gums and adequate bone to support a secure implant. Consult with with us at Uribe Family & Cosmetic Dentistry to see if you are eligible for dental implants. We will welcome the opportunity to meet with you and share our expertise.

Dentures & Partials

A denture is a removable replacement for missing teeth and surrounding tissues.

There are two types of dentures:

• Complete

• Partial Dentures

Complete dentures are used when all the teeth are missing, while partial dentures are used when some natural teeth remain.

Porcelain Veneers

Porcelain veneers, sometimes also termed dental veneers or porcelain laminates, are one of cosmetic dentistry's more recent developments. These wafer-thin shells of porcelain which are bonded onto the front side of teeth can be an excellent cosmetic solution for teeth that are stained or discolored, chipped, cracked, misshapen, worn or slightly misaligned.

Teeth Whitening

Tooth whitening is a cosmetic dentistry procedure that lightens teeth and helps to remove stains and discoloration. The treatments available range from a one-hour, one-time dental visit, to take-home do-it-yourself kits. Tooth whitening can significantly improve the appearance of your teeth at much less cost and inconvenience than other techniques.
